  • MRC Functional Proteomics Initiative

The MRC has issued a call for outline proposals for its initiative in functional proteomics. The initiative is primarily aimed at encouraging the integration of proteomic approaches into high quality research programmes, where proteomic data will add value to physiological, genomic, clinical, and other functional data.

Outline proposals are invited to establish collaborations, consortia and networks to bring together complementary expertise and existing infrastructure to provide enhanced facilities to gather proteomic data. Funding of up to approximately £1m for strategic grants of 3 to 5 years duration will be considered.

The deadline for submission for outline proposals will be 10 November 2003 and further information can be found on the MRC website: http://www.mrc.ac.uk

  • A CBCB-sponsored Biochemical Society Focused Meeting will be held in Sheffield, July 21-22, 2003. The meeting Unravelling Nature's Networks: From Microarray and Proteomic Analysis to Systems Biology, will explore approaches to the problem of analysing and integrating data from large-scale expression analyses. Details can be found on the Biochemical Society web site, or by contacting Nick Monk or Neil Lawrence.

  • The Centre for Bioinformatics and Computational Biology will be holding an inaugural one-day meeting on Friday 12 April. Details can be found here.
